Every Sunday from 3pm-4pm we bring you a selection of programmes - including monthly shows and some one off specials themed around the arts, spoken word and various music types.
on the 1st Sunday of every month we bring you Chance Music with Bob Shingleton - an eclectic 'journey by chance' through folk, contemporary classical and much more with Bob presenting an hours worth of music chosen completely at random by the shuffle function of his I-pod.

Jeff studied at the prestigous Juilliard School in New York and as well as composing electronic and acoustic music he is active in web site creation, computer programming and graphics, and created the first online Sesame Street games. The programme was recorded in Avignon in the south of France where Jeff now lives.

The centrepiece is a performance of Bach's Fifth Brandenburg Concerto with Casals conducting recorded in Perpignan in 1950 and the programme opens and closes with Casals' own compositions. Catholic monk and mystic Thomas Merton, who was born in Catalonia, is represented by an arrangement of one of his poems by American folklorist John Jacob Niles.

Percussionist Simone Mancuso, who was born in Italy but currently lives in America, has collaborated with many leading contemporary composers including Karlheinz Stockhausen. The programme begins and ends with Simone Mancuso playing works by two Italian composers, while the centrepiece is a rare performance of John Cage’s three compositions for amplified plants, which push the envelope of this adventurous programme even further than usual.

The name Sufi is thought to come from the Arabic word for wool which is suf, because the first Sufis wore white woolen robes. Sufism also crosses religious boundaries in its search for a higher level of existence. The term Sufi is used to describe a wide range of people who question prevailing social norms and who place greater emphasis on love than formal religion and material possessions.
