Absolutely agree about Nick Drake's Northern Sky - it is one of only 2 'perfect' records I can think of - if I had sat in the composing / playing / producers chairs: I would change absolutely nothing about this record. I can't think of any other song that can bring tears to my eyes even though I've heard it hundreds of times. The 'other' perfect record is God Only Knows (but in line with my usual attempts on one upmanship - my prefered version is the version I have with Brian Wilson doing the lead vocals as a guide for Carl)...... just beautiful
You have however ruined my day Richard! As part of my ongoing collection of my own cover versions of singles I bought in my youth (you kindly played The Poacher a few weeks back) I have been working on an arrangement of Teenage Kicks and thought I was being very clever by doing it with banjos, acoustic guitars and fake accordian ............ after you played someone else who took it in the same direction - its back to the drawing board!
Enjoyed the Philip Glass-like Moyshe's Bagel - for some reason reminded me of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra and 'Music for a found Harmonium' - any chance of playing that one day?
