Hi, I was adopted from care and realy felt that this talk was really useful. I cannot imaginehow it was for my father i never met him, and sadly he passed away just after i was thinking about tracking him down. I was asked whether i would like to meet either my mother or father about once every three years it seemed by my social worker. Luckily i can say my parents were apreciate of my roots and also asked me, although as an adopted child you learn to be grateful and want for nothing so answer was always what i though people wanted me to say

This item attracted a lot of interest. There seemed to be a lot of bad feelings around about children being taken into Care and adopted. A lot of children find it difficult to establish an identity in later life. I was interested in the work that John is doing to research this subject. So many Local Authorities seem to find it 'convenient' to place children with adopters, but fail to give any support once this has been done. I will try to arrange another discussion at a future date. If anyone is willing to come on the programme to talk about their experiences of Adoption I will be pleased to talk to them. They can remain anonymous if they prefer.

Mike
