Stand Still Kid
Stand Still Kid were first formed in 2007 and having won two successive college battle of the bands with two different groups of people finally settled on a definitive three man, one lady line-up in the summer of this year. This includes two of the original members; lead singer Daniel Stamp (18) and guitarist and singer Kerri Butcher (also 18) with the newer members being James Brown (not the godfather of soul but it is not unheard of that he be called 'the human drum machine') on drums (18), who joined in the summer of 2008, and the newest addition on bass, Tom Steggall ('The Steg', 19).
During their two years, with various different line-ups, their achievements include; reaching the quarter finals of live and unsigned (a nationwide competition for undiscovered talent), newspaper articles in both local and national print, supporting a top twenty band at Colchester Arts Centre and, more recently, being the house band on Radio One's Sunday evening show "Switch with Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw" an experience which the whole band thoroughly enjoyed as, in addition to having their music played live on air, they composed a special 30 second "jingle" promoting the show, and their appearance on it. This, like all of their songs, being a group effort as all four members (Daniel, Kerri, Jim and Tom) contribute to the writing process. The band hopes after this experience and a recent string of successful live shows that this can be their year.
