Future Radio Awarded New Licence!

Ofcom have announced that we have been successful in our recent application for an expanded, Norwich-wide license for Future Radio.

This will mean the current restirctions on our transmitter can be reduced and our new licence will enable us to cover the whole of Norwich, working with communities across the city and reaching new audiences (with a clearer, stronger signal...)

This news follows the application we submitted in November 2008 to expand our current West Norwich licence, for a larger coverage area to broadcast across wider Norwich. After just over 4 months of waiting the good news was announced by Ofcom at 11am on Wednesday 18th March!

Station Manager Tom Buckham said, "this is excellent news for Future Radio, and for Norwich as well. In the 19 months since we've been broadcasting full time we've been inundated with messages from listeners and volunteers from across the city who have enjoyed what we're doing, and in many cases want to get more involved. The new licence will allow us to increase our broadcasts across the city, work with new communities and reach new audiences - it will help us to keep developing a really strong coverage of what's going on in Norwich."

It's likely to take a few more months for us to launch on our new, Norwich-wide licence as certain technical updates will need to made after further discussions with Ofcom - listen out for more news on the expansion though and we'll post full details on the Future Radio website as it develops.
