BLOC 2009 Update
More news from the Bloc team about the lineup for 2009, including an appearance by turntablist DJ QBERT!
DJ Q-Bert is a member of San Francisco's turntablist supergroup Invisibl Skratch Piklz (with D-Styles, Yogafrog, MixMaster Mike, and Shortkut).
They reigned supreme at the Disco Mixing Club (DMC) World Championship, taking its title three years in a row. They were so dominant at the event that they were asked to abstain from further competitions. Q-Bert then took a spot on the judge's panel. In 1996, Q-Bert lent his deft scratch-work to Dr. Octagon's classic Dr. Octagonecologyst album.
Q-Bert has become a sort of ambassador for the turntable. He has gained great respect both for his spectacular skills (including numerous scratch inventions) and for his work to help the turntable community. Along with Mix Master Mike, he was inducted into the DMC DJ Hall of Fame in 1998.
OTTO VON SCHIRACH
German mentalist Otto Von S will be joining Modeselektor on stage as well as performing in his own right on the OVERKILL stage!

BLOC has a brand new venue for 2009!
BLOC in 2009 will be held at the Butlins mega-resort in Minehead, near Bristol.
The thing about Butlins is this – it is actually really good. In previous years the pleasure taken in the holiday-resort side of BLOC may have been a little tongue in cheek. Butlins Minehead features the kind of holiday entertainment fun stuff you can really get your teeth into;
It houses the largest water park in the South West, which has a wave pool and a flume that fires you screaming from its jaws at a speed of 40 miles per hour. It has a fun fair with rides that are massive enough to freak you out if you’re the kind to get freaked out by massive rides. And it never, ever rains at BLOC – everyone attending is housed in luxury holiday apartments which surround the main, indoor arenas.
It is the utter and the outright elite of holiday resorts and we are exploding with joy to be hosting BLOC there.
