Norwich 2 - 0 Oldham - Canaries happy as Lamb (bert)!!!
The first time in long time with my hand on my heart I can say the last few home games the canaries have looked like men in the wrong league!
So good – that in the latter part of the second half the canaries out foxed them self, having so much possession, and not knowing where to give the ball next, or who?
Lambert even agreed “Tell me about it, when the fans can sense victory and goals they want every ball to be a killer pass and that can make the players go round the block looking for a simple pass.”
He did go on to say “Saying that I thought the lads were traffic today again, every one of them.”
The look of man with the freedom of Norwich did not look worried either when asked about his strikers in the January sales “The fans would burn the ground down, I’m not letting them go anywhere.”
Some could say that Holt with the attention on getting to 20 goals before the January sales even start might put pressure on him? If it did this big lad can hide it with the best sportsmen. His finish of the first goal was a fantastic header of quality, and his temper was one of a true leader when it came to the abuse from Oldham defenders.
Carrow road at the moment waiting for Norwich just feels liking a waiting game, and the wait was over after 21 minutes a fine ball from new lad Russell Martin to his surname sake on the right who crossed for Holt to duck, dive and score.
Hoolahan was enjoying his presence of floating across the middle third of the Oldham half, as well as putting in some fine tackles.
He got a fantastic goal on 32 minutes when his own quick thinking released the ball with a 20 yard pass across to the left for the every ready Chris Martin, who again inch perfect ball just inside the right of the box to Hoolahan who jinxed himself passed the double decker Gregan and his floating shot went into the net like a bullet!
The second half presented two half chances to Oldham but both fine saves from the ever impressive Forster.
Another day may have produced a red card for the ever frustrated Gregan who looked to have put his elbow into Drury when he went passed him just inside the box. Lucky bus some might say? He then took out his handbag on Holt, trying to help him break no records before January.
Even the quiet Drury ran ten yards after treatment to have more then one word with him and the referee, which if you follow the canaries has never been heard of?
Another win for the canaries, Lambert is enjoying his days at the office.
Penny said about the game “All you can really say is they were the better team, we were always on to a loser.”
