Great Yarmouth

Hello All,

Great Yarmouth, it's a hell of a town. I just got back from a Sunday out in our county's most famous coastal resort (I base this 'famous' claim on the fact that most people have at least some view on GY, whereas I can talk about Stiffkey and get a blank-faced response), and what a fun time I've had! It was the idea of my lovely girlfriend Nellie for us to spend a day of the bank holiday weekend there, and as a result we made a day of it; ice-cream? You bet! Ghost Train? Oh yes. Arcade? Twice.
We did everything short of donkey rides, and I would have gone for them too if it wasn't for the fact that allergies to such animals cause me to die (and that I would have been denied a ride by the donkey's owners I guess, they ain't as big as me).

Today I learnt that, despite its far from glamorous reputation, Great Yarmouth has a lot to offer anyone seeking some ways to pass the time. Highlights for me were watching Nellie win the Arabian Derby ("roll the balls to get the scores, ride the winner the prize is yours"), getting drenched on the Log Flume (buying the keyring photos afterwards), playing Crazy (is it that crazy really?) Golf, and eating Fish and Chips. And if that stuff don't float your boat, there is always the endless entertainment of pound shops and general people watching - it's never a dull moment.

We also had the 'pleasure' of the droaning and beeping of the big charity truck procession that was going on - it started in Norwich as we were getting on the train, and it finished in GY as we were getting on the train. It was like having the least-subtle stalkers possible. Tonight I will dream of fog-horns and held-up traffic. But it was all for a great cause so i'll stop my moaning.

I wonder what everyone has chosen to do to celebrate BH weekend, if indeed anything? Thus far the weather has been good, might I hazard a guess at BBQs?

All for now, hope your weekend has been fun, see you Tuesday!!
