From managing 90’s punk band Daisy Chainsaw to becoming A&R manager at Polydor Records and working with stars such as Bjork, Muse, Queens of the Stone Age and Chumbabwamba Rick Lennox has a wealth of experience and some exciting stories from his years in the music industry. He now joins Access to Music as the Specialist Mentor for the Apprenticeships at the Norwich centre.
Rick began his career as Managing Director of TFL a music promotion and artist management company, here he managed Daisy Chainsaw and saw them to the top thirty with their single “Love your Money”
Later he worked as A&R manager at One Little Indian Records, which signed Skunk Anansie a multi platinum band which formed in London in 1994, at the very height of Britpop mania.
After this Rick worked as Senior A&R manager at Polydor Records (now part of Universal) and signed Garrett Lee (guitarist of Compulsion) as a DJ/Producer who went on to for Snow Patrol REM, U2, The Editors and Bloc Party.
After this Rick went on to presenting and interviewing a couple of late night music TV programmes for Channel 4 and ITV including presenting and interviewing on The Dirty Weekend where he arranged the Stereophonic’s first TV interview.
In 1999 Rick worked as an internet presenter with Kerrang and Virgin In Flight before joining Muse manager Safta Jeffries at SJP/Taste Media managing producers such as John Leckie (Radiohead), John Cornfield (Supergrass) and Chris Kimsey (Ash, Rolling Stones)
He went on to present Channel Barfly for the Barfly Group where he interviewed over one hundred acts including Muse and Queens of the Stone Age.
He has also recently worked again with One Little Indian Records, organising their back catalogue to sell to record distributors.
