IT events that will change things as we know it!
Here are some interesting reads that will affects us all and shape different aspects of IT as we know it; as there is no escaping the world of tomorrow (a world with microwaves built into our stomachs that cooks our food! We open the front door (our belly!) and put the food in, the food then cooks and it falls through a trap door in the bottom straight into our digestive system (Which will probably be made of grinding wheels churning round by then for faster, more efficient digestion!)) .
http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/13.01/bittorrent.html - Bit of an oldie but a great (5 page!) interview with Bram Cohen who pioneered something called "The BitTorrent Protocol" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_(protocol)) which will have set the way of content delivery systems for years to come. Also more importantly radio fans, it massively effects the music industry as it is the primary way music is illegally downloaded even though its a revolutionary technology meant for good?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_computing - Cloud computing, a technology which is slowly but surely taking off and will start to grow at an accelerated rate. It means we shall all be sharing and working from anywhere in the world at any time with anybody! Communication as it should be! However there are various different providers and for different variations on the technology!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_delivery_network - Content delivery networks will shape our home media experiences as they allow for individuals to have their own media tastes catered for. Examples of this would be Virgin Media's On Demand system in which you can select any program they have archived and which it instantly (as well as pause it, rewind it, fast forward etc!) This also extends to computer gaming with platforms like Steam (which was recently released on Linux) and software distribution using resources like Limelight Networks (Windows updates don’t just materialise on your computer you know!)
