"All That We Keep" by Pete Lawrie   Out 16th August

It's hard not to be a little drained by a YouTube and Myspace bombardment nowadays. But Pete Lawrie clearly has a performing and songwriting talent to back up his ever growing pile of "roadtrip high jinx videos and mixtape compilations" contained within his pages. "All That We Keep", from his new EP of the same name, skiffles along on a very refreshing breeze. A tune as subtle as a knowing wink. Proof that instrumentally you don't need noise and distortion to stir the emotions. Vocally, Pete Lawries's voice will remind many of Ben Ottewell's (Gomez) pleasing bluesey rasp. The chorus is a repeated refrain that could easily have grated but really does hit the spot. Repeat until smiling like an idiot infact. A refrain that may lend itself to a live singalong or two. He's playing a few shows in London pubs in the next few months.....who fancies a pint then?
